Dr. Bethany Smith

Dr. Bethany Smith

Owner & Chief Pet Expert

Born and raised in Cypress, TX, Dr. Bethany Smith came to know and love veterinary medicine as a sophomore in high school. Dr. Smith completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University in 2002. She went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.

Her professional interests include emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, and preserving the human-animal bond. For more than 15 years, Dr. Smith has practiced in the Houston area. In this time, she has received advanced training in animal behavior by completing her Fear Free Certification in 2016 and recently advanced to Elite Certification—she understands the importance of providing personalized patient care every time. Understanding the importance of expanding her expertise, Dr. Smith spent the past few years working and honing her skills in emergency medicine.

The dream of operating her own business and providing compassionate patient care to the local community is what led her to build Elyson Animal Hospital. Dr. Smith and her husband are the proud parents to 3 children and a standard poodle named ‘Prince’. When she is not practicing medicine, she is actively involved in the children’s ministry at church. She also enjoys traveling to the mountains, watching Aggie football, and serving her community. This year she was able to pursue a calling to serve on a mission trip to Mexico.

Liz is a native Houstonian who developed a love for veterinary medicine in high school. After a couple years in college, she decided to enroll in the veterinary assistant program at PMI and graduated in 2012. As a lead technician/assistant manager, she focused on client education by helping pet owners understand the importance of preventative care and spaying/neutering their furry companions. She received animal behavior training by completing the Fear Free Level 1 & 2 certifications in 2018/2019 and is currently working to complete the additional levels.

When she is not at work, Liz enjoys spending time with her family, 2 dogs, 2 cats, watching movies, Astros baseball, and shopping.

She has been in the veterinary field, on the customer service side, on and off since 2009. She is passionate about connecting with clients and building relationships. Kristi is our resident dachshund lover; she currently owns five. She’s had a life-long love for the breed, having owned them since childhood.

In her spare time Kristi enjoys reading, painting and doing arts and crafts. Her family also loves to cheer on the Texas Longhorns play baseball, softball and football.

Kristi is excited to meet you and your fur babies. Ask her about her dachshunds during your next visit to EAH; she loves to talk about them.
